Solar Farm Services are based in (North) Devon and was formed to provide impartial advice relating to all planning and technical matters relating to the installation of Solar PV systems. We will provide our services for any size development, from small domestic roof mounted systems to large scale stand alone developments up to 5 Megawatts at competitive prices.
- We install using our own experts for any system up to 50KW/P
- We use only best quality panels, inverters and switchgear from a range of manufacturers.
Typical length of a 4KW/P array
As a guide to pricing your own specific system we currently use a figure of £3.03 per Watt installed.
Outline Price guide and payback for 3.96KW/P Systems
The calculations below are based on the array being connected to an existing electricity user (private house, commercial premises or agricultural premises) and not stand alone systems. The calculations are made on the assumption that all the electricity will be exported where in most cases over 50% of the power produced will be used on site giving a further payback potential. Click here for a more detailed break down of costs and benifits for: 3.96KW/P, 5.980KW/P & 9.8KW/P Systems.
What we do:
- A more detailed on site survey will have to be undertaken .
- Western power will have to be contacted in order to establish grid connection and export feasibility for this site.
- For ground mounted arrays the Local Planning department will have to be consulted, with a pre-application enquiry and a full planning application.
- Supply and installation and grid connection of a 3.960KW/P solar photovoltaic array.
Total price inclusive of VAT £12,000 Return On investment per year 16%

Solar energy production has been around for a long time but has never been economically viable. Since the introduction of the new Clean Energy incentive (feed-in tariff) in April 2010, requiring electricity companies to pay an enhanced price for green electricity, well-sited solar installations are now economically attractive.
Farmers, landowners and owner-occupiers of large and small buildings can potentially earn a secure long-term income as well as providing on-site electricity needs.
In most cases Solar PV has a lower visual and environmental impact than other forms of renewable energy and planning approval is more likely to be obtained.
